On Thursday 24 October 2024, registered voters in the Hurn Parish neighbourhood area can make their views known in a referendum.

The polling station will be at the Hurn Bridge Sports Club.

The ballot paper will ask "Do you want BCP Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Hurn to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?".

Voting

To be eligible to vote in this referendum you need to:

  • be registered to vote at an address in the neighbourhood area
  • be 18 or over on the day of the referendum (‘polling day’)
  • be a British, Irish or a qualifying Commonwealth citizen
  • not be legally excluded from voting

You may also be eligible if you have permission to enter or stay in the UK - or you do not need permission - and you’re a:

  • citizen of Denmark, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal or Spain
  • citizen of another EU country, if you have had permission to enter or stay - or not needed permission - since 31 December 2020, and this has continued without a break

If you are not already registered to vote, you must register by Tuesday 8 October to be eligible to vote in this referendum.

If you are unable to or don't want to vote in person (by visiting a polling station), then you can either apply to:

  • vote by post (your application must be received by us by 5pm on 9 October)
  • vote by proxy, appoint someone else to vote on your behalf (your application must be received by us by 5pm on 16 October).

If your postal application has been successful, you will receive confirmation from us and a postal ballot pack will be sent to you around 14 October.

If your proxy application has been successful, you will receive confirmation from us and your proxy will be sent a poll card informing them of where to vote on your behalf.
