Cost of living help with housing

If you're finding it hard to pay your rent, mortgage, or other household expenses, make sure you're taking advantage of all available benefits, grants and payments. You might qualify for more than you think.

Housing and homelessness support

We have information on homelessness and rough sleeping, including help if you are at risk of becoming homeless.

Private renters

Talk to your landlord first if you feel safe and comfortable doing so. You might be able to work out an arrangement.

If talking to your landlord isn't possible and you think you may be asked to leave your home, contact the Housing Services Early Prevention Service as soon as you can. Email us at earlyprevention@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

Council tenants

Check our council tenancy information, including money and debt advice and information about rent arrears.

If your Housing Benefit or the housing element of Universal Credit does not cover you for rent and you're struggling to pay, you might qualify for Discretionary Housing Payments

Landlords and agents

If you are a private landlord or agent and you need support for tenants, email landlordrelationsteam@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

Mortgage

If you're having trouble paying your mortgage, contact your mortgage provider as soon as possible. They can offer immediate support and might be able to adjust your payment plan.

Get mortgage arrears help from Citizens Advice.

Sovereign Housing residents can find more information about cost of living support on their website.
