Parents right to request
The Government announced a major expansion of childcare support aiming to remove barriers to work for parents with children under three in a bid to help more parents return to work. You can read more about childcare expansion.
All schools need to support parents right to request childcare.
You can read more about responding to requests for wraparound childcare on GOV.UK.
When handling right to request arrangements, you should be transparent about the process you choose to follow.
You should:
- be clear about timescales for dealing with requests
- speak to your local authority (and any relevant landowner where appropriate)
- keep parents and providers informed at each stage
- give reasons for approving or rejecting requests
