Lessons learnt after LGR
LGR provided valuable lessons that continue to guide how the council delivers change. One of the most important lessons was the need for clear, early and consistent communication, both with colleagues and with residents. Bringing teams together highlighted the value of shared standards, common technology platforms and strong governance to support decision making.
The experience also showed the importance of planning for long term digital integration rather than relying on temporary fixes. Investing in data quality, cybersecurity and modern digital services early on reduces complexity in the future. Above all, LGR demonstrated that collaboration, openness and a willingness to adapt are key to delivering large scale organisational change.
