Overview

The proposed closure of Parkfield School was subject to a final decision by the Secretary of State on 19 July 2024.

Following the end of the listening period, the Minister has taken the final decision to close Parkfield School from 31 August 2025.

This means that:

  • the school will close to children on roll across the Reception – Year 9 Year Groups at the end of this academic year (2023/24)
  • the school will remain open for the current Year 10 cohort for the 2024/25 academic year to enable them to complete their GCSE studies on roll at Parkfield

We have implemented our Transition plan to ensure that all eligible children on roll receive an offer of a school place at a receiving school ready to start in September 2024.  We worked closely with our local school leaders to achieve this and all offers were sent to parents/carers on 11 July 2024.

We are currently in the process of working with parents/carers as issues arise to ensure all families receive the support they need including responding to any individual concerns raised throughout the process.

Financial support is provided by Parkfield School to purchase new school uniforms. All families are eligible for this support and are receiving details direct from Parkfield School.
