Record keeping forms and guidance for early years safeguarding

It is important that you keep up to date and accurate records of any concerns and action taken when safeguarding children in your care.

Accurate records help us find causes for concern as early as possible, and pick up on patterns that lead to a child protection action. It also helps in reviews and continuous improvement of safeguarding practice.

You can read our guidelines on record keeping below.

There are a number of forms that you should be aware of when recording concerns and incidents about child abuse. You can find these below. Email them to childrensfirstresponse@BCPcouncil.gov.uk. Make sure to send emails securely and include the name of the member of staff you are sending these to, in the subject line.
