Duct and fibre laying
As part of BCP Council’s Towns Fund programme we are installing ducting and fibre between Boscombe Precinct and the Seafront (along Sea Road) and between Boscombe Crescent and Kings Park (via Walpole Road, Borthwick Road, part of Palmerston Road, Tower Road and part of Ashley Road).
The objectives of the scheme once the fibre is installed are to:
- Provide free (external) public Wi-Fi along those roads where fibre is being installed.
- Provide free public Wi-Fi along the Boscombe Seafront and within Kings Park and Churchill Gardens.
- Provide wireless connectivity for new technologies such as devices that help people to live independently in their own homes and remote health monitoring.
- Provide better and more cost-effective connectivity to CCTV cameras to help improve security.
The works to install the ducting are being undertaken by our contractor, CCN Ltd. The works commenced on 29 November 2022 and due to last for three months for the entire works. There will be some disruption in front of individual properties as the works passes through, but the aim is to keep this to a minimum.
