Phase 2 is the £2.7m Smart Place Demonstrator Project at Boscombe which is funded through the ‘digital connectivity’ element of the Bournemouth Towns Deal from MHCLG/ DLUHC.

This extends the fibre and wireless networks, including 5G and public Wi-Fi, from Lansdowne to the centre of Boscombe and then onwards to Pokesdown, Boscombe seafront and Kings Park, including AFC Bournemouth’s football ground.

The Smart Place Innovation Lab based in Boscombe’s iconic Royal Arcade was created in February 2022. The lab provides an environment for local companies to trial their digital solutions over our various wireless networks and it will act as a community hub for local people to learn basic digital skills.

As part of this phase, the community ‘MyBoscombe’ web app was created acting as a ‘one stop shop’ that aims to provide local and valuable information all in one place.
