Overview
Call 999 if you are reporting a crime that is in progress or if someone is in immediate danger.
Abuse or neglect happens when someone behaves in a way that harms another person or puts them at risk – whether on purpose or not. It can take many forms.
It can happen once or over time, in someone’s home, in a care setting, or in the community.
This information only applies to abuse of an adult who has, or may have, care and support needs. Advice and local support options are available for adults who do not have care and support needs. The NHS also has information about domestic abuse.
If you think the abuse or neglect could mean that a crime has been committed, contact Dorset Police.
If the abuse or neglect happened at an NHS hospital or while someone was at a clinic, you should contact the manager of that service first.
It’s always better to say something if you are worried. You could help someone stay safe.
