Bulky waste collection service terms and conditions

1. Service details

Bulky waste items are large household items, such as sofas, fridges and other household appliances, that cannot be disposed of through normal domestic waste collection services due to being too big or heavy.

The service is provided to collect items that cannot be:

  • Reused or recycled; and/or
  • Taken to BCP’s household waste and recycling centres

BCP Council (hereinafter referred to “BCP”) provides households within the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area with a bulky waste collection service and use of this service is strictly subject to the terms and conditions set out below.

Please note: this service is not available for businesses, landlords or commercial premises. Instead, there is an alternative service for business users. For more information about this service, please contact BCP’s commercial waste team on 01202 128 333.

2. Prices and bookings

The bulky waste collection service is chargeable, with a standard charge for each item being collected. The service is booked in advance, charged per item and subject to a maximum of 10 items per collection. There are no concessions available on charges or the number of items that can be collected.

All bookings are made online, using the online application form found at www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/bulkywaste. Details of the items needing to be collected and where they will be located for collection must be listed on the application form. Payment, in full, using either a debit or credit card must be made at the point of any booking confirmation. Cash payments are not accepted.

Once payment is made, a collection date can then be selected. At this point, further items cannot be added or removed from the collection order.

3. Changing collection dates, cancellations, and refunds

All booking cancellations and requests to reschedule collection dates must be made via email to customer-services@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

Cancellation requests must be received at least two working days prior to the scheduled collection date to qualify for a refund. There will be no refund for cancellations received after this time.

4. Collection

The collection service operates Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays), between 7:30am – 3pm. BCP reserves the right to alter the date and/or time of any collection but will provide advanced notice in the event of any such change.

Only those items listed in the application form submitted will be collected. Items must be left outside of the property (or located where detailed at the time of booking) and clearly identifiable. BCP does not accept liability for items taken in error and will not return these. Items must be dry, empty, accessible, and free standing. BCP will not dismantle or disconnect any items. Set out in Schedule 1 below are those items that will not be collected.

On the day of collection, the BCP representative attending will determine if any items contravene the above conditions. Any such items will not be taken and no refund for these items will be available.

For any items collected, the BCP representative will provide a collection notice, detailing the item(s) that have been taken.

Should BCP miss a collection this must be reported within two working days of the planned collection date. Any such report must be submitted via email to customerservices@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

5. Data Protection Statement

Any information BCP receives will be used exclusively for the provision of the bulky waste collection service. Please refer to BCP’s Privacy Policy for details how any personal data collected will be used:
