Your beach hut booking
- Proof of hire (e.g. confirmation email) will be required before keys are issued.
- Hire begins from 9am on the commencing Saturday of your booking and all keys must be returned by 5pm on or before the last Friday of your booking.
- Your booking is not transferable to any other person except at the discretion of the Council.
- You are not permitted to sub-let the Beach Hut/Pod to any other person under any circumstances.
- There will be a £30 administration charge to amend any bookings.
- Cancellation or change of booking with more than one (1) month notice will incur a 20% cancellation charge (£30 minimum).
- Cancellations or changes with less than one (1) months’ notice, including those bookings that have already commenced, will not be subject to any refunds.
- The Council reserves the right to transfer the Hirer to another Beach Hut/Pod.
- Huts are furnished with 3 deckchairs and/or a plastic table and chairs.
- Hirers must bring any cause for complaint during the hire period to the attention of the Resort Information Team immediately or as soon as practical so that any necessary action can be taken at the time to rectify the issue. This can be done:

- by phone on 01202 123 800 (phoneline open 9.30am-4.30pm Mondays to Fridays, and 9.30am – 4pm on Saturday/Sundays. *Subject to change)
- in person by visiting Bournemouth Tourist Information Centre, Pier Approach, Bournemouth, BH2 5AA.
key collection and returns
- Keys for the Beach Hut/Pod are available for collection from 9am on the first day of your booking. Information on where to collect your keys will be provided in your booking confirmation email. Please ensure you return your keys to the original collection point on or before 5pm on the final Friday of your booking.
- A £50 charge for late key returns will be applied, payable by the hirer on receipt of our invoice.
- Lost or unreturned keys will incur a £75 charge, payable by the hirer on receipt of our invoice.
- The Council issued padlock must be used. Beach Hut/Pod users are not permitted to affix their own padlocks.
Vehicle access
- Vehicle access to the promenade is only permitted on the first Saturday of your booking from 9am, and your vehicle must leave the promenade no later than 10am. You will need to show your booking confirmation at the access gate.
- Access to the promenade at other times throughout the year is between 9am and 10am, Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
- These times may change due to operational needs at the discretion of the duty Senior Ranger. Access from November to March is through Bournemouth Pier and Boscombe Pier only.
- When driving on the promenade, do not exceed the 10mph speed limit and ensure your hazard lights are on. Please note that pedestrians have right of way on the promenade.
Beach hut usage
- Beach Huts/Pods may only be used during the hours of daylight and are not to be used for overnight accommodation.
- A maximum of six people can occupy a Beach Hut/Pod and the adjacent outside area at any time.
- Beach Huts/Pods are to be used for leisure purposes associated with the adjoining beach and sea only and not for the advertisement, display or sale of goods, products and/or service
- The Hirer shall be responsible for the good behaviour of all persons using the Beach Hut/Pod and for ensuring all users comply with the terms and conditions of the booking.
- Beach Hut/Pod users must not cause, or permit, a nuisance in or around the Beach Hut/Pod that shall cause annoyance, inconvenience, or disturbance to occupiers of neighbouring Beach Huts/Pods or to the public. Music and noise must be kept at low level.
- In situations considered by the Council as anti-social behaviour by users of the beach hut, your booking will be cancelled with immediate effect with no right to refund or compensation.
- All Beach Hut/Pod occupants must be considerate of neighbouring Beach Hut/Pod users regarding space outside.
- Smoking is prohibited in all Beach Huts and Pods.
- BCP Council do not provide gas in beach huts. You are however permitted to use a portable gas device to generate power for cooking facilities, or provide your own gas bottle if using a Council fitted gas stove (available in some locations only), providing all the following conditions are complied with:
- Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder must not exceed a maximum weight of 6kg.
- Gas supply must be suitable for indoor use
- No additional compressed gas cylinders or flammable liquids can be stored in the Hut.
- Any gas or fuel supply must be properly and safely stored and maintained in good working order.
- Proper and efficient means of extinguishment must be available.
- All users of the beach hut must observe the regulations in force covering the use of portable gas supplies.
- BBQs are not permitted in or beside the Beach Hut/Pod.
- Dogs are permitted in beach huts. Please take note of seasonal beach restrictions pertaining to dogs.
- Valuables should not be stored in the Beach Hut/Pod. The Council cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to the hirer’s property.
Council property
- The Hirer will be responsible for any loss or damage to any Council property and/or equipment during the hire period and will be required to pay the Council’s costs on receipt of our invoice.
- All litter and personal belongings must be removed before you vacate, and the Beach Hut/Pod left clean and tidy. Should the hut be left in an unreasonable condition, at the discretion of BCP Council, you may be subject to a cleaning fee charge.
- Any personal items left at the Beach Hut/Pod will be removed and may be sold by the Council without incurring any liability for any loss or damage which may occur. The Council shall be entitled to retain any such proceeds of sale absolutely.
- The Council will not accept liability for injury to any persons using the Beach Hut/Pod except where such injury arises from the negligence of the Council or any matter for which it would be illegal or unlawful for the Council to exclude or limit liability.
- The Council and its authorised representatives may enter the Beach Hut/Pod at any time to carry out inspections.
Any infringement of these terms and conditions may result in the
Hirer’s booking being cancelled without refund of any part of the hire charge
