Our Transport Safety Officers (TSOs) fall under the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS). This is a team of uniformed officers with limited but targeted accredited police powers.
The team will be travelling on and around the public transport network with the ability to respond quickly to anyone acting in an antisocial way.
The team have both police acredited and council delegated powers and can:
- require name and address for an offence, begging or antisocial behaviour
- seize alcohol from anyone under 18 or believed to be under 18
- seize alcohol from anyone acting, or likely to act, in an antisocial manner
- seize tobacco from anyone under 16 or believed to be under 16
- move and direct traffic, excluding abnormal loads
