Several roads around the Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre (formally called the Bournemouth Indoor Bowling Centre) will be temporarily closed for four days over the date of the General Election. This is to help facilitate operations at the count venue.

The temporary closures will be in place from 7am on Tuesday 2 July, up to and including Friday 5 July 2024.

The affected roads are as follows:

  • Kings Park Drive from its junction with Holdenhurst Road for its entire length.
  • Kings Park Central Drive from its junction with Ashley Road to its junction with Kings Park Drive.
  • Gloucester Road from its junction with Kings Park Drive up to the entrance to the Cemetery.

These roads will be closed to all vehicles except for permitted users. This includes no parking, no waiting and no loading/unloading. Any vehicles causing an obstruction risk receiving a Penalty Charge Notice and being removed.

Access to the Kings Park Outdoor Pavilion polling station will not be impacted, and residents with this listed as their polling station can still drive there on election day.

In addition, the following car parks will also be affected:

  • Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre (formally known as the Bournemouth Indoor Bowls Centre) will be closed from 7am on Tuesday 2 July to Friday 5 July
  • Lorry/Coach Park, South Car Park, Stadium Car Park will also be closed from Wednesday 3 July to Friday 5 July 2024, except for permitted users.

We thank the public for their patience during these temporary road closures, as our staff and partners carry out their important work to support democracy.

Full emergency access will be maintained at all times
