BCP Council is seeking the views of residents to help develop a new draft play strategy for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
BCP Council recognises the importance of play for everyone of all abilities, across the BCP area. It would like to hear the views of residents on all its play spaces, including skate parks, playgrounds, ball courts and bike tracks.
Over the next six weeks, BCP Council is especially keen to hear from those who use its play spaces, including parents, grandparents, carers, skateboarders, cyclists and residents living close to a designated play area. The survey includes an interactive mapping tool, which also makes it easier for residents to have their say on the park that matters most to them.
BCP Council officers will be taking the opportunity to visit play areas in the BCP area over the coming weeks to gather additional feedback from users, which will also inform this engagement survey.
Councillor Mark Anderson, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Place, said:
"We recognise how important play spaces are for the health, wellbeing and development of our children and young people. We are particularly keen that we ensure our play spaces are inclusive for both girls and boys, and also accessible to those who have a disability.
"I’m pleased that we are using the opportunity to get initial feedback and views from our play-area users and their families, so that we can develop a draft Play Strategy, which is both considered and relevant. It is essential that we explore how we make the best use of our play resources, and understanding what people value most will be integral to this.
