“I was homeless myself and promised myself that as soon as I was in a place of change, I would help people in a similar position.”

Andrew Talbot, along with Sam Davies, established We are Humans 20 years ago, initially with a couple of Themos flasks and some sandwiches to provide comfort to local homeless people.

It has since grown, with several volunteers joining to distribute meals and drinks to homeless and vulnerable people across BCP.

Now with a base in Boscombe, their support has expanded to a family breakfast club, homeless kitchen, Pensioners lunch club, community cafe, community pantry, and a joint lunch club with the IAAC (It’s All About Culture).

“We are simply humans being humans. We have no paid staff, relying on the kindness of volunteers, and provide all our services free of charge, without prejudice or judgement, to those in need of food and help,” Andrew says.

“Our volunteers do an amazing job, providing a cooked meal, essentials such as clothing and bedding, and offering advice and help to anyone homeless and/or in financial need.”

Additional volunteers are always needed, along with food, clothing and cash donations. To find out more visit the We are Humans Facebook page or visit them at The Base Cafe, 33 Sea Road, Boscombe.
