Residents are being encouraged to kickstart a healthier 2025 after the completion of significant upgrades to leisure facilities across the area.
Three Poole located facilities - Ashdown Leisure Centre, Rossmore Leisure Centre, and the Poole Dolphin Leisure Centre – have benefited from £400,000 of investment. These join the council’s portfolio of managed sites that includes the award-winning Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre, in Christchurch.
The centres are run under the new BCP Leisure management model with membership providing access to four gyms, three swimming pools and over 100 group exercises classes per week.
Residents are invited to visit their local centre and see the improvements for themselves – and to find out more about January’s membership deals by downloading the new BCP Leisure app or visiting bcpleisure.co.uk.
Extensive refurbishment has taken place since the sites became council-managed at the beginning of October 2024, with residents not only able to benefit multi-site membership but also discounted deals to celebrate the completed works.
The significant investment has seen the existing gyms and fitness studios modernised with upgraded fitness equipment, including cardio and strength equipment, refreshed interiors, resurfaced floors, and enhanced workout spaces.
Improvements have also been made to the Two Riversmeet swimming pool, with a new protective resin coating installed and filtration systems fully refurbished.
Further work is being undertaken and planned to upgrade the airflow systems and reduce running costs at these important leisure facilities.
Offers are available on fitness and swimming memberships to encourage residents to kickstart a healthier new year and thrive in 2025.
Cllr Richard Herrett, Portfolio Holder for Destination, Leisure, and Commercial Operations at BCP Council, said: “I am delighted that the upgrades to our leisure centres have been completed - supporting our mission of making lifelong active living accessible and affordable to our residents.
“Bringing the sites into council-led management ensures residents can access more high quality facilities and demonstrates how locally managed services can meet community needs.
“I am looking forward to seeing the benefits that these refurbished centres will bring to the local community.
“The BCP Leisure management model includes a capital repayment investment plan across the three facilities, which will improve the quality of services on offer for our residents.”
BCP Leisure now has responsibility for five facilities - Poole Dolphin, Rossmore, Ashdown, Two Riversmeet Leisure Centres and the Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre.
