BCP Council is looking for new foster carers to help make a huge difference to young people’s lives.

Foster Care Fortnight, which launches today, celebrates the outstanding work of local foster carers, showing how fostering can transform lives.

This year’s theme is fostering communities and aims to attract residents and families from a variety of backgrounds to become foster carers in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

BCP Council foster care service is urgently looking for new foster carers to offer support within their local community, particularly for older children, sibling groups, children with disabilities and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

Individuals and families from all backgrounds and ethnicities are invited to consider foster care to give local children the best possible start in life.

There are many different types of fostering, so residents can choose how much time to commit to foster caring, whilst fitting this in with their job or other responsibilities.

Rubina Payne, BCP Council’s In-house fostering, private fostering and supported lodgings service manager said: "Being a foster carer with us, you’ll be helping to make sure local children can remain close to their existing social and family networks.

"BCP Council’s foster care service is highly inclusive, where individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds are needed to take on a fulfilling role. In return we offer generous allowances, a fantastic package of training, a supportive community of foster carers and experienced team of social workers."

"Being approved as a foster carer takes a lot less time than you might think. If you could share the life of a child or young person who needs patience, stability and understanding, we would be delighted to hear from you."

Following Foster Care Fortnight, members of the BCP Council Foster care team will be holding daytime information events at the Square in Bournemouth on 12 and 13 June to speak to residents and potential carers.
