Work on the new sustainable travel route on Wimborne Road in Ferndown is making good progress with the first two phases due to complete this autumn.

Phase 1 (Canford Bottom roundabout to the Cobham Road Junction) has a number of sections of the new cycle and walking lane open for use, which are already being well used by cyclists and walkers. Recently the whole road around the Uddens Drive and Stapehill Road junctions has been resurfaced as well as the new signalised crossing installed and due to be in operation shortly. New bus stops and shelters have also been installed.

Phase 2 (Trickett’s Cross Roundabout to West Moors Road) is nearing completion, with the new shared cycle and walking route already well advanced. The new toucan crossing near the roundabout is currently being installed and pedestrian improvements at the road junctions on the south of Wimborne Road, including dropped curbs and tactile paving have been put in place. Phase 3 (Cobham Road to West Moors Road) is due to start in October and will complete the 4.3km link of new cycle and walking improvements along Wimborne Road.
