Bournemouth Bay Run 2023 start

Thousands of people are expected to get their running shoes on for the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council organised event on Sunday 24 March.

Whatever your running ability – fun, competitive or just starting out your fitness journey – you can choose from half marathon or 10km events and there’s a 5km option and 1km children’s race too.

Set against the backdrop of Bournemouth’s beautiful seven-mile stretch of sandy beaches, the annual event supports several local charities.

In 2024 these are Dorset Mind, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, the RNLI, Age UK (North, South & West Dorset) and Helping Homeless Veterans UK.

Nick Read, Managing Director of the Vitality Programme said: “Inspiring people to become more active and live healthier lifestyles is at the very heart of what we do at Vitality, and Bournemouth Bay Run offers a fantastic opportunity for the whole family to get their running shoes on and take part in a race.

“With one of our key offices based in Bournemouth, the area is an incredibly important to us, and we’re delighted to be able to support the local community in this way and be partnering with Bournemouth Bay Run.”

Simply go to the Vitality Bournemouth Bay Run website to sign up and join around 4,500 other runners taking part in the various races.

In 2023, over £20,000 was raised for the nominated charities.

Cllr Millie Earl, Deputy Leader, and Portfolio Holder for Connected Communities, BCP Council said: “We are delighted that Vitality is on board with this fantastic event and supporting our messages about wellbeing, healthy living and celebrating our wonderful Bournemouth coastline.

“There is always a great sense of community, camaraderie and, if you wish, healthy competition! Why not sign up now for this terrific event today.”
