Local heritage at Bournemouth Library

Bournemouth Library has a heritage library on the second floor with a range of items about Bournemouth and the wider local area. This includes books, maps, directories, photographs, council records and more.

A lot of this collection is for reference only and can't be taken away from the library. We do have some items that you can borrow, including books and maps.

If you aren't able to borrow an item you may be able to take a photo, make a photocopy or scan. This depends on the copyright rules and physical condition of each item.

If you're going to do research you can reserve a computer or microfilm viewer in advance by emailing us at heritagelibrary@bcpcouncil.gov.uk. You can reserve at the library in person, but there may be a wait.
