Bournemouth Music Library is one of the biggest public music and dance collections in the south, offering sheet music, books, and recordings of pop, jazz, and classical music. It has a wide range of music resources, and expert staff are available to help.

The library is perfect for anyone who wants to:

  • learn an instrument, sing, or dance

  • join an ensemble, choir, or orchestra
  • listen to music and find local events
  • explore Bournemouth's musical history

Sheet music, CD and DVD music and music sets can all be browsed on the LibrariesWest online catalogue.

Sheet music

We have tutorials and sheet music for instruments like piano and keyboards, woodwind, brass and percussion, covering most genres. Our collection also includes miniature, vocal, and full scores, as well as chamber sets.

Music on CD and DVD

We offer a wide range of CDs to borrow, including:

  • rock and pop
  • dance and electronic
  • classical (with a large opera collection)
  • film and TV music
  • jazz, folk, and world music

The library also has music DVDs available for hire, from live performances to tutorials.

Music sets

Our collection includes chamber music, small ensemble sets, and choral and orchestral sets for hire. If you need something we do not have, we can request it for you from a national network of performance libraries.

To hire music sets, plan ahead and allow time for processing. A group representative will need to become a member of the library to manage the hire. For more information, email bournemouthmusiclibrary@bcpcouncil.gov.uk or call 01202 127 000.
