Once you have joined our library service, you can visit your local library and borrow up to 20 items in any combination of:

• books
• physical audiobooks
• CDs
• DVDs and Blu-ray discs

You can also borrow 5 eAudio books and 10 eBooks. You can borrow eAudio books and eBooks online. You can also find and reserve physical library items online, which you can then pick up from the library.

Books, physical audiobooks and music CDs can be borrowed for 3 weeks. DVDs and Blu-ray discs can be borrowed for a week at a time.

If your items are overdue, you might have to pay a charge. Some rentals and reservations might also have a charge. Check our list of hire charges and late fees for more information.

You can renew library items to stop charges increasing.

If you only have a temporary membership, you might not be able to borrow as much. Talk to staff at your local library for more details. 

Free email alerts

Visit or call your local library to register for free email alerts. Email alerts will:

• let you know when your requested items are ready for collection
• remind you when your books will shortly be due for return
• send you a first overdue notice if your items are overdue

Email alerts are offered as extra help for you to remember your due dates. If you do not receive an email reminder, you will still need to pay any late fees.
