Bookstart gives a free book pack to every baby born in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, to encourage a love of stories and rhymes from as young an age as possible.

Bookstart baby packs

The baby pack is given to you for free from the birth registrar when you register your baby's birth. You can find out more about Bookstart from the BookTrust website.

If you have not received a pack, you can collect one from one of our libraries.

Join a library

Babies can join a library from the day they are born. It’s free for everyone to join.

Every library has books to share and fun activities for all the family.

Parenting advice and first issues and situations books are available to borrow in the children’s library.
