Pétanque, which is like French boules, is played on an area called a terrain. It’s a sociable game that can be enjoyed by everyone, at all levels.
Bournemouth
At Muscliff Park in Bournemouth there’s a fully enclosed, 7-lane pétanque terrain measuring 20m by 14m, which can be floodlit for evening matches.
The terrain, adjacent to the community centre in Shillingstone Drive, is managed by Muscliff Park Pétanque Club. The pétanque club website has information on opening times, membership, competitions and access for schools.
Poole
In Poole, there is the Flight Refuelling Pétanque Club which is situated at Cobham’s Sports and Social Club, Merley. It has 3 terrains with a total of 8 lanes.
Membership is open to all but members must be also join Cobham’s Sports and Social Club.
The club are members of the New Forest Pétanque League and Pétanque England.
There are also public pétanque terrains in Upton Country Park, Parkstone Green, Ashley Cross and a terrain at the Hamworthy Club, Magna Road which can be hired.
