Beach hut sites in Christchurch
All beach huts in Christchurch are privately owned and are located on sites licensed to beach hut owners for which an annual licence fee is payable. Our beach hut licence fee page has information on fees and how to pay.
There are beach huts at Mudeford Sandbank, Friars Cliff and Gundimore Beach.
There’s no waiting list as huts are normally sold through estate agents, word of mouth or advertising.
Mudeford Sandbank
There are 346 huts on Mudeford Sandbank. They’re overnight huts and can be slept in between 1 March and 31 October.
Beach hut tenants can apply to keep a small craft on Mudeford Sandbank.
You can access Mudeford Sandbank by car at certain times of the year when repairing a hut or removing equipment. To get a permit, email the Hengistbury Head visitor centre at hengistbury.head@bcpcouncil.gov.uk or call 01202 128 444.
Friars Cliff Beach
There are 156 huts at Friars Cliff beach. These huts are for daytime use only and not to be used for overnight accommodation.
Gundimore Beach
There are 11 huts on Gundimore beach. These huts are for daytime use only and not to be used for overnight accommodation.
Avon Beach
Avon Beach and their Beach Huts are operated by Avon Beach Ltd. Contact them on 01425 272 162 or visit the Avon Beach website for further information.

Beach hut licensee car parking permits
As a beach hut licensee, you are entitled to one car parking permit at the resident's rate. Any further permits will be priced based on whether you are a resident or non-resident of Christchurch.
