To join a waiting list you must be:
- a Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole resident
- paying Council Tax to us (unless exempt)
The cost of joining a waiting list is £50. You can join as many lists as you like, paying £50 for each list you’re on.
Your place on one list will not affect your place on any other lists you may have joined.
Before you apply to join a waiting list
When applying, you will need to choose from one of the three options:
- a council owned beach hut
- a site (plot of land) for a privately owned beach hut
- either a council owned hut or a site
You can contact the current owners of the site to buy or sell the beach hut to each other.
We do not get involved in the buying and selling of beach huts.

Join the waiting list for a Bournemouth beach hut or site
Waiting lists in Bournemouth are currently closed to new applications.
Join the waiting list for a Poole beach hut or site
You can apply to join the waiting list for a Poole beach hut or site online.
What happens after I join the waiting list
When you reach the top of the waiting list and a beach hut or site becomes available, we will email you to let you know.
You will then have 10 days to accept or decline the offer. To accept, you must return the completed licence and documents required within the 10 day offer period. You will then be sent information on how to pay for your beach hut. Once you accept, you will be removed from any other waiting lists you’re on.
If the beach hut or site doesn’t suit you then you will be able to wait until another one becomes available. We will let you do this for 3 different beach huts or sites before it affects your place on the list.
If you decline all three offers or don’t respond, you will be removed from the list. You will then have to re-join by paying the £50 joining fee per list.

- Branksome Chine: 8 years
- Branksome Dene: 7 years
- Boscombe East: to be confirmed
- Boscombe West: to be confirmed
- Canford Cliffs: 8 years
- Durley Chine: to be confirmed
- Flaghead Chine: 4 years
- Fisherman's Walk: to be confirmed
- Hamworthy: 6 years
- Sandbanks: 9 years
- Southbourne: to be confirmed
- Shore Road: 5 years
