Make a complaint about a councillor
If you think a councillor has broken their code of conduct you can report them to us.
When making a complaint, you must:
- be specific about what you are alleging the councillor said or did - for example, instead of saying that they insulted you, tell us what they said
- provide the dates of the incidents - if you cannot remember an exact date you can give a general timeline
- provide names and contact information of witnesses if there are any - you must make sure that they have agreed to be named in your complaint, you should also ask them to submit a statement to go with your complaint
- provide all relevant information including copies of any documents or social media posts
If you are complaining about more than one councillor, you should clearly explain what each person has done that you believe breaches the code of conduct, including references to those parts of the code of conduct that you believe they have breached.
