Beryl bike share

We have partnered with Beryl for a five year contract to deliver an innovative Bike Share scheme across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. Beryl’s distinctive green bikes are now a familiar sight across the conurbation and can be easily hired through the Beryl App. The App tracks the GPS location of the bike allowing users to access and unlock any Beryl bike simply using a smartphone.

Over 1,000 brand new bikes are available with three speed gears and an easy to ride step through design. Handlebars and seats are fully adjustable for a wide range of riders, from 4’11" to 6’5".

The bikes are available for instant hire at over 300 convenient parking locations, including rail and bus stations, town centre shopping areas, university campuses and tourist attractions.

If you park outside a Beryl Bay, a £5 parking charge will be applied.

Bikes are locked manually using the lever on the lock at the back wheel and scooters are locked using the app. This will end your ride.

Please be aware that there is no cycling permitted on the promenade in Bournemouth and Poole between 10am - 6pm during July and August.

How the scheme works

The app can be downloaded on the Apple app store and the Google Play Store. Riders can choose to pay each time they cycle, or purchase "minute bundles".

The Beryl app displays every location of ‘Beryl Bays’, the preferred parking locations to leave the bikes. The scheme allows users to safely park the bikes elsewhere in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Pool, by paying an additional convenience fee. The operator keeps track of all the bikes through GPS and will redistribute them as required to maximise availability.

You can hire a Beryl bike using the Beryl app, then ride it anywhere in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area for 8p a minute.

Contact information

The bike share scheme is operated by Beryl, who provides, maintains and redistributes the bikes. Please contact Beryl direct if you have any comments regarding the operation of scheme:
