Services at the Heritage zone
Much of the material in the Heritage Zone is for reference only. However, we do have items that you can borrow, including books, DVDs and maps.
Bournemouth was granted its Charter by Queen Victoria on 23rd July 1890, and its first election of Councillors was held in November 1890.
If you aren't able to borrow an item you can make a photocopy or scan, subject to copyright. There's a small charge for the photocopier.
If you're going to do research you can reserve a computer or viewer in advance by emailing us. You can reserve at the library in person, but there may be a wait.
