Lansdowne Smart Place pilot project
Free public Wi-Fi
Through the Smart Place initiative, BCP Council are providing free public Wi-Fi to Lansdowne visitors. This public Wi-Fi covers the area encompassing St Swithuns Roundabout, Station Roundabout and The Lansdowne Roundabout.
Digital networks roll out
As well as providing free public Wi-Fi, we are also rolling out other digital networks as part of this pilot project. These networks will allow us to test applications such as real-time air quality monitoring, augmented and virtual reality, and even robotics.
The Smart Place team are working with other BCP Council departments and other local organisations to identify the biggest digital challenges faced in our communities and develop the best possible solutions for these challenges.
R&D Consortium
We are working to solve these digital challenges through collaboration with the members of our Research & Development (R&D) Consortium.
Are you a local digital tech company or technology vendor with a passion for solving challenges in your community? Through our R&D Consortium, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference, as well as test your solutions on the Smart Place 5G, Wi-Fi and fibre optic experimental connectivity platform.
