Dog owners are required by law to clean up after their dogs in public places. This includes roads, pavements, parks, car parks, and all shared open spaces.

You can report a dog waste problem if it is on:

  • public land (such as the seafront, parks or playgrounds)
  • roads
  • pavements
  • cycle lanes

How we deal with a dog waste problem

If there is a lot of dog waste reported, or it is in a priority area like a busy school route or shopping parade, a cleaning crew will be sent to clean the area.

If there are large amounts of dog waste or a persistent problem, we may investigate if we have enough information about the dog and owner.
