Sometimes bin collections are missed due to operational problems or issues with access. When this happens, affected roads will be on our list of missed bins.
If your bin was put out correctly and we've missed the collection, we will aim to return and empty it within 5 working days of you reporting it to us. You must report it within 2 working days of your usual collection day.
Leave your bin out until we return to collect it. If your bin was not put out correctly, we will not return to empty it.
We will not collect your bin if the:
- recycling is not sorted or includes items we cannot recycle
- garden waste bin includes materials we cannot take
- bin is not out when we collect - make sure you put your bin out by 5am on your collection day
- waste is not all inside the bin
- bin is too heavy
- bin is compacted - you need to make sure waste will easily fall out when the bin is collected
Your food waste will be collected every week on the same day as your rubbish and recycling, but by a separate collection team. Because the food waste containers are smaller and harder for our crews to spot, please make sure they are placed in a visible location for collection.
How to report a missed bin collection
If you think your bin has been missed, do not report it online until the next working day, our collection crews empty bins from 5am until 9pm.
Do not report a missed bin collection if your whole road has not been collected as we will already be aware of this.
