The area is popular amongst dog walkers.
A pathway for pedestrians and cyclists runs from the Hiker Café and car park to the Mudeford Spit beaches.
There is no lifeguard service at Mudeford Spit.

Cycling
In Christchurch, cycling is not possible in all areas as the promenade can be very narrow.
Accessibility
Access by foot, bike or land train from Hengistbury Head Car Park - 1 mile away from the beach. The land train can carry wheelchair users whilst they remain in their wheelchair by using the special wheelchair carriage of the land train. Accessible toilets with RADAR key access at end of sandbank (block 5) and at the ferry pontoon (block 3).
Dogs
Dogs allowed all year, off lead. If accessing the beach via Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve, dogs should be under close control at all times to protect wildlife - preferably on a lead.
Barbecues
Barbecues (BBQs) are not allowed.
Open fires
Open fires are not permitted on any of our beaches at any time. You may be prosecuted if you attempt to light an open fire.
Camping
Camping is not permitted on any of our beaches at any time. You may be prosecuted if you attempt to camp anywhere along the seafront.
