Our policy for managing former tenant rent accounts for BCP Homes, where there is either money owed to us or money owed to the former tenant.
A rent account becomes a former rent account when the tenancy between BCP Homes and the tenant(s) has ended. A balance can exist for a number of reasons such as:
- tenant payments not covering the period to the end of the tenancy, leaving an outstanding balance
- tenant payments being more than the rent to the end date of the tenancy, leaving a credit on the account
- tenants making payments after the tenancy end date, leaving a credit on the account
- housing related benefit being paid directly to the rent account, either not covering the period to the end of the tenancy or a payment being made after the end date
