Barbeques on the beach

You cannot have barbecues on any part of Hengistbury Head beach.

Electric barbecues are available from early summer to October between 10am to 10pm on a first come, first served basis. For more information and details of electric barbecue locations, check our user guide.

Disposable barbecues are only permitted on the beach from 6pm to 10:30pm. In Poole you cannot have barbecues on Lake Pier beach or Hamworthy Park beach.

Gas barbecues are not permitted at any time.

Please choose your barbecue spot carefully. Remember smoke from your barbecue can cause offence to other beach users.

Hazardous barbecues will be put out.

When you’ve finished with your barbecue, please extinguish it carefully with water and leave it next to the bins on the promenade for collection by our waste teams. Do not bury or put hot barbecues into bins.

Barbecues for groups of 30 or more people

You will need our permission to hold a barbecue with this number of people. It must take place in a designated barbecue area between 6pm and 10.30pm.

For barbecues for groups of 30 or more, you will need to read the barbecue guidance and complete an application form.
